Cong pays homage to late Rishang

Former Chief Minister late Rishang Keishing had always worked towards preserving the integrity of Manipur and to safeguard its territorial integrity and we should all work together in realising that dream.
Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said this during a memorial lecture programme held today at Congress Bhawan to observe the 4th death anniversary of Rishang Keishing.
Floral tributes were also paid at the portrait of the late Chief Minister.
Speaking at the programme, O Ibobi said Rishang Keishing was also the first MP from Manipur representing the State in the first Lok Sabha in 1952-57.The late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also honoured Rishang Keishing during the first Parliament Session when NDA came to power, he added.

Okram Ibobi added that Rishang Keishing joined the Congress party after meeting Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as he was moved by the principles and ideals of the Congress Party.
He added that studying the life and work of Rishang Keishing by the youths will go a long way in positively shaping their future.
MLA N Loken, interim president MPCC, also paid floral tributes at the grave of Rishang Keishing today.
Speaking at the programme, N Loken said the suggestions for development of the State as mentioned in the Rishang Keishing Memorial lecture will be implemented and for that it is absolutely necessary that Congress comes back to power after the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election slated to be held early next year.
He appealed to everyone to work towards making sure the Congress party wins the upcoming election with an absolute majority.
The programme was also attended by members and workers of the Congress party.
