Dr Rajo stresses safeguards against dengue, malaria

Imphal, July 01 2022: In remembrance of renowned physician and West Bengal former chief minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, Directorate of Health Services organised state level National Doctors' Day at its Lamphelpat office on Friday.

In recognition of their selfless service made during the Covid-19 pandemic, certificates were distributed to doctors on the occasion.

Addressing the event as chief guest, Health Services director Dr K Rajo pointed out that National Doctor's Day is being celebrated since 1991 as a tribute to Dr Roy and to acknowledge the sacrifices made by doctors and healthcare workers for the welfare of the people.

While advising the people to take precautionary measures in view of the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in trie state of late, Dr Rajo also informed that cases of dengue have been detected in Moreh and Malaria in Churachandpur.

Noting that conflict between doctors and patient parties is mainly due to misunderstanding, the director said the department has been trying to give awareness regarding the matter so as to prevent such unwanted incidents.

The observance was also attended by NHM state mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam, Family Welfare director in-charge N Dihe Mao, Health Services additional directors, officials, NHM officials and senior consultant doctors among others.

Doctors who succumbed or those living with aftereffects of Covid-19 while fighting the pandemic were also honoured and 'Outstanding performance in Covid-19 Appreciation Certificates' handed over to doctors as a mark of encouragement for their selfless service in combating the pandemic.

Meanwhile, RIMS celebrated National Doctors' Day at its general OPD complex.

Speaking on the occasion, RIMS director Prof A Santa urged the media to help in building healthy relationship between doctors and patients.

He informed that a CT-scan machine has been installed at RIMS Trauma Centre, advanced CT-scan machine at OPD and world class digital X ray approved for installation at Trauma centre of the institute.

Prof Santa also said that work for installation of lift system has been taken up at OPD while the same at the casualty ward and in the operation theatre will begin soon.

Former HODs of RIMS namely Prof Chourjit, Prof Gunamani, Prof Iboton, RIMS MS Prof N Sanjib, dean (academic) Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam; HODs, doctors, Nursing College principal Prof Jamuna and nursing staff attended the event.

CMO Imphal West also celebrated Doctors' Day on the theme 'In the service of humanity' by providing certificates of honour to doctors at Areca hills, Keithelmanbi.

As a part of the celebration, RIMS doctors led by Brogen Singh Akoijam, (Dean Academic & Prof.& Head, Community Medicine Department, RIMS) and Dr Th Meera (Sub-Dean and Prof.& Head, Dept of Forensic Medicine, RIMS) conducted health check up at Hope Home for Girls at Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai.

IMA-Manipur State Branch also celebrated 'National Doctors' Day' at IMA main auditorium, Lamphelpat on the theme 'Family Doctors on the Frontline'.

During the programme, six directors of health related department/ institutes of the state were felicitated for their dedication and contribution in the field of health care.

They are Directorate of Health Services director Dr K Rajo Singh, RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh, JNIMS director Dr Laishram Deben Singh, Shija Academy of Health Sciences director Dr Maisnam Amuba Singh, Directorate of Family Welfare Services director Dr Paozachin Guite and State Mission Director NHM Manipur Dr Somorjit Ningombam.

In connection with National Doctors' Day, All Manipur Medical Students' Association organised donation cum free health checkup at Langol old age home in memory of its former member (L) Sanaton Athokpamn.

Necessary medical tests were con ducted by Escent laboratory and medications provided free of cost to the inmates of the old age home.

Also, Rotary Club of Imphal, RID 3240 in association with NSS Cell, MU with technical support from RIMS, Imphal and 16th Assam Rifles organised blood donation camp as a part of National Doctors' Day at Manipur University Centenary hall.

In all, 129 units of blood were donated by students of NSS Cell, MU, members of Rotary Club of Imphal and army personnel.

The blood donation camp was attended by MU VC Prof H Lokendro Singh, NSS Cell MU co-ordinator M Nodiyachand Singh, 16th Assam Rifles major Deepak Kataria and Rotary Club of Imphal president Pramod Jaiswal as presidium members.
