Saplings planted for 'Green Purul: Vision 2030'

Senapati, June 24 2022:
Purul Youth and Students' Organisation (PYSO), Senapati district carried out a community tree plantation campaign on the theme "Plant Trees, Go Green" along its inter-village road.
More than 500 saplings of Apple-Blossom Cassia (Cassia javanica) and Red Gulmohar (Delonix regia) were planted in the campaign.
The participants, who took the oath to protect the saplings, also put up metal guards around the saplings planted as a symbolic gesture of commitment and security.
Speaking on the occasion, programme convenor RL Nada stressed the need for communities to contribute their mite towards mitigating the problem arising out of global warming.
He further stated that the plantation campaign is aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and encourage a sense of planting trees as a service to humanity.
On the other-hand, PYSO president Samuel Lanah urged the youth to take equal responsibility in nurturing the plants until they attain maturity and opined that conducting a nature-oriented drive would create a good sense of social responsibility amongst the children, youths, and students toward mother Earth.
Further highlighting on the significance of the conservation of forests, he stated that the state government aims to plant 75 lakh saplings across the state within August as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration to mark the 75th year of India's In dependence.
Dahiinii, a participant in the plantation campaign said: "Many times, it has become a convention to be dependent on government initiatives as our saving grace.
This humble drive is a gentle reminder to every citizen that green living is a fundamental duty".
The Green Initiative ended with a brainstorming session amongst the participants for a consensus decision to monitor, review, and evaluate quarterly for a Green Purul: Vision 2030 .
