Trees planted, saplings distributed

Imphal, June 04 2022:
Dhanamanjuri University along with Bharat Vikash Parishad (Manipur Prant) observed 'World Environment Day' by conducting social service and planting tree saplings in the premises of DM College of Science, botanical garden of the college and other colleges under DMU.
Around 100 tree saplings were planted at the botanical garden and other colleges on Saturday.
Meanwhile, RAM School chairman Dr Ksh Kala distributed tree saplings to the students in connection with the World Environment Day.
The School also observed the day at its Pangei Bazar campus which was attended by principal Anzar Khan and senior teachers as presidium members.
In connection with World Environment Day, The League of Women and Bhairodan Maxwell Hindi High School organised a painting competition on the theme 'Only One Earth' at the school for Class III to VI and Class VII to X students and also planted tree saplings at Nongpok Torban, Imphal Turel.
The painting competition cum tree plantation programme was organised under the joint aegis of environment minister Th Biswajit and Directorate of Environment & Climate Change.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) carried out tree plantation drive and motivational lecture at Aina in Churachandpur district on Friday.
The lecture was focused on spreading awareness among the youth about various opportunities to join security forces while the plantation drive was aimed at creating awareness among the villagers and encourage them about growing environmental concerns and ways to prevent it by tree plantation.
Troops of Assam Rifles along with 75 locals attended the lecture and planted 100 saplings, PRO informed.
Representatives of Eastern Motors, NEXA Chingmeirong also planted sap lings in connection with the upcoming "World Environment Day" at the Koirengei campus of 'Porei Nawakon', a girls' only orphanage on Saturday.
