World Environment Day 2022 observed across State

In line with the observance of World Environment Day which falls on June 5 as declared by United Nations General Assembly, various activities were carried across the state today under the theme, "Only One Earth" to spread awareness on conservation and protection of the environment.
CHANDEL
As part of the World Environment Day observance, BACEL (Bungmi Association for Community Empowerment and Leadership) and (MPYCC) Monsang Pantha Youth and Cultural Club today jointly organised a one day river cleaning drive along the Chakpi river stretch at Monsang Pantha village in Chandel district.
The drive was participated by Rev Fr Micheal Kochuparambil, principal of St Peter's Higher Secondary School, Monsang Pantha; Ng Vincent, chief Monsang Pantha village; MPYCC president, Ng Salim Peter and BACEL president, Ng Rameson Monsang among others.
The drive was participated by about 70 youths of Monsang Pantha.

CHURACHANDPUR
National Service Scheme, National Cadet Corps of Rayburn College, Gangpimual, in association with Churachandpur Forest Department organised a tree plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day at Rayburn College campus today.
As a part of the campaign, a solemn programme was organized in the college campus attended by Shivanand Surve, SP; Esther Laltankim Serto, Divisional Forest Officer; Lunkhomang T Haokip, Range Forest Officer; Principal, Deans, faculties, and students from various departments.
Later, a tree plantation programme was also conducted.
KANGPOKPI
As part of the World Environment Day observance, Kangpokpi Forest Division also organised a mass plantation drive near Toribari at Kanglatongbi-Kangpokpi Reserve Forest (KKRF) .
The drive was participated by Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi; District Level Officers and Civil Society Organisations of the district.
Around 2,000 saplings were planted during the mass plantation drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh Nagarajan, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Kangpokpi urged all the DLOs, CSOs and public to conserve the forest and environment.
He also urged all to respect the Government notified forests and gave a clarion call to protect the forests of Kangpokpi for a better future.
SENAPATI
The NSS of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram in collaboration with Eco Club and Rovers and Rangers also organised a tree plantation and cleanliness drive to celebrate World Environment Day.
The drive was participated by Program Officers of NSS, H Titus and Sr Sonal Devendrabhai Vaghela, CCV; in-charge teachers and NSS volunteers.
At the event, Fr Paul Adahe, principal of DBHSS Maram delivered a lecture on the topic, "Living sustainably in harmony with nature" .
TAMENGLONG
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Rainforest Club Tamenglong in collaboration with District Administration Tamenglong, Tamenglong Forest Division and The Corbett Foundation also organised a mass tree plantation drive at Gadai Hill in the catchment area of the water reservoir.
The mass plantation drive was participated by local MLA Janghemlung Panmei; RFO Tamenglong Forest Division, Hitler Singh; SDO Tamenglong, Rohit Anand; SDO Tousem, Paul Nangsha; and Dr Chambo Gonmei, honorary wildlife warden & advisor to RCT.
Ex-ADC members, students from Good Shepherd School, Baptist Youth Fellowship, Town Fellowship, Evangelical Union, Tamenglong, Khoupilong Youth Club, Taudai Colours and other CSOs also took part in the drive.
