Imphal, June 04 2022:
The People's Initiative for Progress (PIP), Manipur has made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help and support to the incumbent Government of Manipur to bring a transformative change in the State.
PIP, a social organisation working for bringing a transformative change in Manipur in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister stated that the peace, unity, development and progress has set in Manipur under the leadership of the incumbent Chief Minister who has been fighting earnestly against any form of discrimination under the impeccable guidance of the Prime Minister.
While throwing light upon the present Government's 'War on Drugs' campaign and efforts made to wean away the farmers from poppy plantation, PIP went on to state that Manipur has witnessed massive deforestation for poppy cultivation and related activities which has resulted in high rate of siltation, frequent occurrence of landslides and scarcity of water in a massive scale.
The crucial situation has compelled the present Government to take up strong measures to protect and preserve the reserve and protected forests of Manipur which has been notified by the Government of India decades back, continued the letter.
Expressing concern over the motive of some section of people misconstruing the genuine effort as a discriminatory move against some particular section of people, PIP maintained that a group of persons led by Dr Mark T Haokip, self -styled president of the People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland has undertaken a vicious campaign against the incumbent Government thereby misguiding many youths who even planned to eliminate the Chief Minister and it calls for appropriate immediate actions to nip this campaign in the bud.
The growth of such organisations wanting an independent country separated from India is a result of unchecked infiltration of foreigners from Myanmar through the porous international boundary, added the letter.
PIP further alleged that Dr Mark T Haokip is responsible for bringing many foreigners in Manipur from Myanmar with the sole aim of creating an independent Kukiland.
Expressing that in the event of the failure of present initiatives taken by the Chief Minister due to the opposition from some sections who have ulterior motives, the people of the State as a whole will become the victim, PIP earnestly appealed to the Prime Minister to extend every possible help and support to the incumbent Government to bring a healthy and transformative change in Manipur.
