Imphal, June 04 2022:
Vehicles standing in queues at petrol pumps became a common scene today as the cease work strike called by oil and gas tankers compelled many retail outlets to close down.
Meanwhile, the All Mani-pur Petroleum Products Drivers' Association has called off its cease work strike today after submitting a letter to the Commissioners and the Directors of CAF & PD and MAHUD to exempt oil tankers from toll tax across the State.
Reportedly, many people stood in long queues at different petrol pumps today to get their vehicles refilled for they feared that they would face lots of inconveniences in their day to day activities if the cease work strike continues for more days.

It may be mentioned that oil and LPG tankers engaged in transporting fuel and LPG to different retail outlets and distributors launched a cease work strike under the aegis of All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers' Association denouncing collection of toll tax from oil tankers in Kwakeithel area.
Owing to the strike, many oil pumps at Imphal areas were closed before time as fuel stock ran dry due to people's rush to purchase petrol and diesel.
Many people who didn't have time to stand in queue purchased petrol from the black market at high cost.
Some of the petrol pumps which were opened as usual today informed The Sangai Express that their stocks might also run dry in a day or two.
