AR units, CRPF observe Anti-Drugs Day

Central security forces deployed in the state joined the observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at their respective areas of deployment and unit quarters on Sunday.
As a part of the observance, Noney Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised a lecture session as well as essay writing competition at Thingou village in Noney district to strengthen the action and cooperation to achieve the goal of a rural society free of drug abuse.
The rural youth were also made aware that the addiction can cause many serious effects on their well-being, physical health, professional life and can cause exacerbate mental health problems such as depression to psychosis.
Similarly, 44 Assam Rifles of IGAR (East) organised a vehicle mounted awareness rally for drug free society in Tamenglong town on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
According to PRO (Defence), the rally was flagged off from iconic Gaurav Sthal at its headquarters and traversed through various lanes and by-lanes in the town.
During the flag-off event, Tamenglong Battalion commandant said that the main aim of the observance is to stop drug use and illicit drug trafficking to save lives.
The more educated and aware people are on this topic, the more likely are'they to go on a healthier path and choose to forego the unhealthy habit, he maintained.
Meanwhile, Chassad Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under IGAR (South) organised lectures as a part of the observance for villagers of Kultuk, Molvailup, Aishi, Lakhan and Phaimol of Kamjong district to make people aware about the societal problems due to illegal drugs.
The lectures covered drugs-related facts as well as solutions for treatment to fight against the prevalent drug menace.
A total of 80 villagers attended the lectures at various places.
Sajik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (S) also conducted a lecture session on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Tuilelon village community hall in Chandel district after a motorcycle rally organised by Chapikarong police station.
Troops of Assam Rifles also participated in the motorcycle rally.
The Lecture educated the youth about the ill effects of drug abuse and the ongoing Illicit Trafficking situation.
It was a joint effort by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police showcasing the synergy and common motive of welfare of locals.
A total of 40 youths attended the motorcycle rally and lecture.
Mantripukhri-headquartered 69 Bn CRPF also joined the observance of "International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking" by organising a rally under the supervision of its commandant Bajrang Lal.
Besides officers and personnel of 69 Bn, local youth also participated in the rally held in areas under its operation.
A release of the battalion informed that the main objective of the rally was to educate and enable youth to reject illicit drugs, mobilise support and inspire people to act against drug use so as to maintain perfect balance between mind and body to keep nation fit & healthy.
The rally concluded with an oath taking ceremony led by commandant Bajrang Lal to prevent drug abuse and promote a healthy life.
The commandant also urged all to share facts on drug and save lives against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
