Manipur storm into Jr women's football quarters

Kimte Langel racked up four goals as Manipur pummelled Jharkhand 11-0 on their way to the quarterfinals of the Junior (U-17) Women's National football Champion ship 2022 at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, on Sunday.
M Sanjana Chanu also shone for the state team with a treble.
The state girls were in action mode from the word go and that earned them a freekick as Kimte Langel stepped up to dispatch a sublime strike that went into the net (9'), leaving the opposition's goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Kimte then turned provider by picking teammate Thingbaijam Sanjita with a long ball and the latter made no mistake in converting it in the 13th minute before Oinam Babita made it 3-0 in the 14th minute through a looping cross from Romina.
It was Kimte again in the 21st minute to up the scoring ante.
She took a cutback pass from Babita and calmly sent the ball into the back of the net for her second goal.
Then M Sanjina put Manipur 5 - 0 up in the 40th minute via a cross from Luxmi.
Jharkhand's defence was in complete disarray as goals continued to rain on them.
Kimte Langel completed her hat-trick in the 44th minute to make it 6-0 after capitalising on a well-timed pass by Manao as Ipham Romina Begum found the seventh goal in a five-minute span courtesy of a fine pass by Romina.
Then M Sanjana further stretched Manipur's lead to 8-0 in the 82nd minute.
It was Romina's penetrative strike that found Sanjana to score her second goal of the match.
Kimte rounded off her collection in the 86th minute courtesy of a cutback from Sanjina before K Sanamija Chanu found the 10th goal two minutes into injury time from Sanjita's comer.
Then it was up to Sanjana round off her treble in the 5th minute of stoppage time via Romina's pass to help Manipur close out the game in style.
Manipur will now face Bihar in the quarterfinals on June 29 .
