Medical team awarded Rs 5 lakh for successful kidney transplant operation

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for the team of doctors, nurses and other technical staff of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) who successfully performed a kidney transplant.
At least three operations for kidney transplant were successfully conducted for three patients namely Takhellambam Bikramjit Singh (37) from Wangoo Tera, Kakching; Kimsary (41) from Tuisonjang village, Churachandpur and Hanso Wungleng (32) from Winitang, Ukhrul at JNIMS.
Addressing media persons at JNIMS today, the Chief Minister congratulated the doctors, nurses and others who performed the kidney transplant operations.
Saying that successful conduct of such an operation at a Government hospital in Manipur is a big achievement, N Biren said that the State Government had been taking up certain measures to the infrastructure at JNIMS on mission mode.
The Chief Minister also said that the people who underwent kidney transplant operations availed the benefit of Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) .
Saying that the patients didn't bear any expenses for the operation and medicine required, N Biren thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saving the lives of many people through the scheme.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the public to take the benefits of Government welfare schemes.
Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, Director of Health Services Dr K Rajo, Director of JNIMS Laishram Deben also attended the press briefing.
