Training on Seed Quality Control held

A day long State level training programme on Seed Quality Control for Seed Certification Officials & Extension Functionaries organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre was held at its complex at Lamphelpat here on Saturday.
The programme was attended by Dr S Ayyappan, secretary of Director of Agriculture Research & Education (DARE) and Director General (DG) ICAR as Chief Guest; Dr SN Puri, Vice-Chancellor of Central Agriculture University (CAU), Imphal as President while Dr SV Ngachan, Director of ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Meghalaya and Dr N Prakash, Joint Director of ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr S Ayyappan informed that India has now been able to produce 260/263 million tonne of food grains including 94, 40, 25/26 and 5 million tonne of wheat, coarse grain (nutrient cereals), maize and rice respectively.
The country is producing adequate food grains as compared to other neighboring countries, he added.
