ZRA hurt in AR retaliatory firing

Imphal, March 30 2014:
A militant of Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) was shot at and injured by personnel of 7-Assam Rifles in retaliatory firing when the militant tried to flee on a motorcycle after opening fire on the security personnel at New Keithel in Churachandpur district late last night.
Three persons, who were with the injured Zomi Revolutionary Army militant, were also nabbed by the AR personnel.
The AR personnel were frisking passersby when the incident took place at around 11.30 pm.
When the four who came on two two-wheelers-a Honda Activa and a Bajaj Discover bike- reached the spot the AR personnel tried to stop them, but the man on the Discover bike opened fire on the security personnel and tried to flee.
The man was hurt in retaliation by the AR personnel.
He was identified as Lalun Noula Paite (19), who later was confirmed to be a militant belonging to the ZRA, which is a signatory of Suspension of Operation with the Government.
One bullet hit his right thigh.
Two 9 mm pistols with six rounds were recovered from his possession.
The trio who accompanied the ZRA militant have also been identified B Paola Vaiphei (18), a resident of Mata village, Amilal Paite (29), from Khumujamba village and Pumkan Paite (18), of Tuija village, all fall under Churachandpur district.
They were handed over to Lamphel Police Station while the injured ZRA militant was admitted to RIMS for treatment.
A PIB-Defence Wing statement claimed that all four of them are cadres of Zomi Revolution Army (ZRA).
