AMSU demands scholarship

AMSU has threatened to launch all sorts of agitation including closure of the MOBC office in case backlog pre-matric and post-matric scholarships are not released
by April 3 .
Speaking to media persons at their headoffice today, AMSU general secretary Laishram Rigel decried that MOBC Departmet has been back pre-matric and post-matric scholarship stipends for 2011-12 and 2012-13 entitled to OBC, SC and Minority students without giving any reasons.
Charging that MOBC has been misappropriating several crores, Rigel said that fraudulent conduct of the department has been victimising a large number of students.
In case the backlog pre-matric and post-matric scholarships are not released and transferred to bank account of beneficiary students by April 3, AMSU would launched all sorts of agitation including closure of MOBC office in the interest of student community.
For 2011-12, the number of students entitled to MOBC's pre-matric scholarship was 2347 and the amount entitled to them was Rs 51,72,130.For 2012-13, the number of students entitled to MOBC's post-matric scholarship was 2517 and the amount entitled to them was 1,72,76,871 .
These figures indicated that the amount misappropriated by MOBC Department ran into several crores.
All these OBC students have opened their bank accounts and they have submitted their account numbers of MOBC, said AMSU human resource secretary Manjit Sarangthem.
He demanded that MOBC should bring out a white paper giving a convincing explanation for holding back scholarship stipend for OBC students.
