Imphal, March 30 2014:
The Manipur State unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has announced its support to Independent candidate Oinam Indira, who is contesting for lone seat of the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in ensuing 16th Lok Sabha election.
'We've come to a decision to support the Independent woman candidate Indira for the Inner constituency," S Shyamsundar, secretary, Manipur State CPI (ML) told newsmen at the party office here on Saturday.
He said the Democratic People's Front (DPF), which the CPI (ML) is affiliated to, is to contest the Lok Sabha polls in many constituencies throughout the country through its member parties.
Election symbol of Independent candidate Lamlamoi Gangte for Outer constituency is 'saw' and that of PDF is also the same symbol, he said.
He said that although Lamlamoi is contesting as Independent candidate, he can be rightly called a CPI (ML) candidate in the fray.
Shyamsundar said that the party's high command has appreciated Indira for her courage and bold decision to fight the polls as a resolute woman candidate.
Indira has been relentlessly working for the welfare of women.
Shyamsundar disclosed that the demand for repealing Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, Special Category status for Manipur and protection of territorial integrity will be among prominent promises to be made in the party's election manifesto.
Launching an attack on the BJP and the Congress, he called the two National parties 'the same sides of a coin' and alleged both are unfaithful parties.
He also undervalued sitting MP and INC candidate for the Outer seat Thangso Baite and claimed that the people in the constituency do not like him any more as he has become a mere 'observer' .
Nowadays, people dislike Congress while the BJP is a party that had taken the main role in burning down Manipur, he accused.
He dubbed BJP candidate for the Outer Prof Gangmumei Kamei as a man who has always waited for instruction from 'Camp Hebron' .
ON other candidates in the fray, Shyamsundar recounted that candidae of All India Trinamool Congress Kim Gangte was in the Parliament for 11 months only, and accused her of lending a hand in overthrowing the Parliament.
On the other hand, NCP candidate C Doungel is a very old man, who can never bring development for the entire Outer constituency because he failed to do so in his own constituency Saikul when he represented it in the past.
