Imphal, March 30 2014:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for Outer Manipur constituency K Zou is not happy that nomination paper filings of the candidates were done in the valley instead of doing it in the hills.
"Outer Parliamentary constituency basically comprised the five hill districts of Manipur and one valley district (Thoubal) and it is reserved seat for the tribal people, so why not our nomination paper filing be done in one of the hill districts?" K Zou asked.
He blamed the tribal leaders for not raising a singly question to the concerned authority on the matter.
"They said convenience was the reason that Thoubal was chosen as the official centre for filing nomination papers of the tribal candidates but that is absurd," K Zou charged.
"For the tribal candidates coming all the way to Thoubal district is more problematic in all factors," he added.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club on Saturday, K Zou said unlike in Manipur, peace and development are visibly limping back to the neighbouring states of Nagaland and Mizoram.
He has therefore encouraged the people of the state to change old perceptions about another tribe or community and develop a broader sense of outlook in seeing and taking things in the larger perspective.
Meanwhile, talking about his agenda, the AAP candidate said, "Manipur continually reels in poor communal and arms conflicts.
The reason for such maladies is due to corruption in the state which gives rise to communal feelings", he maintained.
.KZou had earlier served as an advocate of North East Advocate Forum based in New Delhi and was also the president of All India Tribal Students Association.
He had also published a book titled "Manipur at the Cross Road! Only together we can find a way out..." in 2012 .
Among his agendas, K.Zou has also mentioned to give more power to the Autonomous District Council (ADCs) and Panchayati Raj so that more development works can be initiated.
