2nd T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament : CYCLONE emerge champs defeating CHAMP

Riding on a blistering 93 runs off only 56 balls from Thoithoi, CYCLONE downed CHAMP by 19 runs in the final of the 2nd T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament today.
On winning the toss CHAMP elected to field and put in CYCLONE to bat.
This however proved to be a strategic error as the frontline batsmen of CYCLONE took full advantage of a placid wicket and scored at will on either side of the wicket.
Leading the charge was M Thoithoi who made a blistering 93 runs off 56 balls and carried his bat through the innings.
He was ably assisted by Ingenjao who came out with an entertaining 77 off only 62 balls and S Sunil who made a quick fire 12 off only 8 balls and remained not out.
With the wicket not offering much assistance, the batsmen of CYCLONE milked the bowling attack of CHAMP to keep the score board ticking and notch up a tally of 196 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 20 overs.
Faced with a competitive target of 197, the CHAMP batsmen started well with Ibobi leading the way with 84 runs off only 57 balls and remained not out.
Though there were some fine contributions from others, none of them could did in their heels to build a strong partnership.
Others who contributed with the bat for CHAMP were Kangjamba with 23 runs off only 13 balls, Tejbanta 21 off 11 balls and Tomthang 12 runs off 17 balls.
Amongst the bowlers of CYCLONE, Robindro led the way with 2 wickets, followed by Sur, Arun and Anand with one wicket each.
For CHAMP the lone wicket take was Lalboy.
For his 96 runs off 56 balls, Thoithoi of CYCLONE was adjudged the man of the final match.
The man of the series title was bagged by I Ibobi Sigh of CHAMP who notched up a total of 134 runs and picked up 5 wickets.
The highest scorer title went to Thoithoi with 173 runs and the highest wicket taker was L Binny of CYCLONE with 11 wickets.
