Martyrs of Pallel incident remembered

Floral tributes were paid to the martyrs of Pallel incident of September 8, 2023 during a solemn ceremony held today at Pallel Maning Leikai community hall in Kakching district Today's event was jointly organized by United Committee Pallel (UCP), Youth Volunteers Association (YVA) Pallel, Social Development Organisation (SDO) Pallel, Arambai Tenggol Unit 40-Pallel and Meira paibi Apunba Lup (MPAL), Pallel.
During the event, tributes were paid to Yengkhom Jiten and Soibam Nanao who were killed when security forces opened fire at an agitating crowd on September 8, 2023 and prayers were offered for those who were injured in the incident.
While speaking at the occasion, SDO Pallel secretary S Rabi recalled the supreme sacrifice made by Yengkhom Jiten and Soibam Nanao for the motherland Manipur.
Stressing on the burning issue of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), he said that the indigenous people of the State should strive earnestly for the updation of NRC for the protection of indigenes of the State.
He called for collective efforts to face any form of issues which threatens the existence of the indigenous people and work in coordination for the preservation of the State's unity and integrity.
In today's event, simple gifts were presented to the family members of the martyrs who were present as a token of love and appreciation.
P Ibotombi, Chairman, UCP; M Jiban, Convenor, UCP; S Bomi, president MPAL, Pallel; H Romen, president YVA, Pallel; S Rabi, secretary SDO, Pallel; S Suraj, Commander AT Unit 40-Pallel and T Jugendro, secretary, Nongma panba Laibung Kaba Thousil Lup and YVA secretary T Umakanta graced the event as presidium members.
