Seminar on Manipuri literary trends held

Women writers' body, Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) today organized a one-day seminar on "Manipuri Sahitya da Ayibashing: Kunmathoi Shuba Chaichatki Decade" at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here.
Prof Huirem Bihari and Dr Kh Sorojini, president of LEIKOL attended the seminar as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the seminar, Prof Bihari was of the view that the present style of writing books and other literary works in the State still has attachment with the traditional trend and expressed his desire to adopt modern ways of writing.
Sorojini recounted that LEIKOL was established as an exclusive body for women writers under the leadership and guidance of eminent Manipuri author late MK Binodini in 2008 .
Prof Polem Nabachandra, Dean of Humanities, Manipur University moderated the first session of the seminar during which Konjengbam Hemchandra, Professor, GP Women's College read out paper on the topic of "Manipuri Sahitya da Neina Wareng," Chungkham Sheelaramani Devi, Associate Professor, DM College of Arts on "Manipuri Sahityagi Ayibashing, Punshi Wari" and RJ Meitei on "Manipuri Sahitya da Ayibashinggi Sheireng" .
In the second session moderated by IS Kangjam, Koijam Shantibala Devi, H Sumatibala Devi and Huidrom Subhashini Devi read out papers on different topics related to the theme of the seminar.
