From the day election code of conduct came into effect till yesterday, altogether 288 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and 4041 litres of locally brewed liquor were seized and disposed off, claimed Excise Assistant Commissioner K Joykumar.
Speaking to media persons at his Lamphelpat office this afternoon, Joykumar said the liquors were seized in the course of intensified raids conducted at different places.
In addition to intensifying routine activities of all sub-stations, flying squads have been set up under strict instructions from the Election Commission.
The total monetary value of the 288 bottles of IMFL is around Rs 1,62,900.Monetary value of the 4041 litres of locally brewed liquor would be around Rs 4,04,100 .
In the course of the raids, a sum of Rs 5.67 lakh was collected as fine.
Out of 232 raids conducted, 165 turned out to be successful.
Meanwhile, IMFLs worth around Rs one lakh seized by Bishnupur district police were set ablaze at Excise Headquarters, Lamphelpat today.
Together with the IMFLs, country made liquor worth around Rs 21,500 seized by Excise were also disposed off.
Counting the liquors disposed off today, altogether 453 litres of IMFL (worth Rs 2,62,900) and 4256 litres of country made liquor worth Rs 6,88,500 have been disposed off.
