UNC intensifies eco blockade

Imphal, September 08 2026: The United Naga Council (UNC) has decided to intensify its ongoing inter-district economic blockade on all National Highways including NH-202 (Jessami), NH-37 (Jiribam) and NH-102A (Tadubi-Ukhrul) in addition to NH-2 with effect from 1 am of September 9, 2026 .

A press release issued by the UNC said that all goods-laden vehicles will not be allowed to ply except those carrying essential, emergency services such as medical supplies, media, power, telecom and water supply.

"The economic blockade is a collective expression of our grievances and a call for justice, and accountability for the six Nagas who were brutally killed, mutilated and dismembered on May 13, 2026", it said.
