Religious leaders take pledge of 'No Cash for Vote'

Rightful Election Movement (REM) organised a Grand Consultative Conference on 'No Cash for Vote' for Mufti-E-Kirams, Moulanas and Hajis at Islamic Baby English School, Lilong on Friday evening.
Darul Uloom Markaz Manipur Ustad (Oja) Moulana Alhaj Seifuddin led the gathering in taking a pledge against any act of taking or giving money for votes, stating that it is against Islamic Law (Shariat).
During the conference, several other resolutions were also read out by REM convenor Mufti Sabir, which included successful propagation of the' No Cash for Vote' campaign; increasing the members of REM executive body; refraining from exchange of gift/money in any function related to the assembly and Municipal Council, Panchayat, college/school elections as they are against Islamic laws and fatwas have been issued on the same; organising an understanding on the matter, if required; for Imams to enforce the same in their respective Mohallahs along with holding corner meetings with REM on the campaign; discourse on the campaign for those who have completed Alima and Deen-yat courses; informing the intending candidates of the upcoming polls of the campaign; and lastly, promoting the campaign in other areas of Lilong.
The conference was also attended by Jamiatul Ulama Manipur general secretary Mufti Safiullah Qasmi, Darul Uloom retired Ustad Moulana Islaur Rahaman, Madrassa Jamia Kasmia Mohtamim Moulana Hussain Ahamed Qasmi, Anjuman Manipur president Moulana Kayamuddin, Darul Uloom Markaz Manipur Naib Mohtamim Moulana Muheiyuddin Majahiri and Markaz Darul Yatma Atoukhong Mohtamim Mufti Salatur Rahaman Majahiri.
