Imphal, November 27 2021:
Even though they have cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) - UG 2021, many candidates are in a position of not getting MBBS seats.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, parents of some such students informed that this year, students were asked to fill in the addresses of their schools where they had studied class 12 instead of their permanent addresses.
Usually, seat reservation is done based on the permanent addresses and as such several students, who studied class 12 in other states are in a position of not getting MBBS seats in the state or anywhere.
The reservation list was published on Friday and many students who cleared NEET exam found their names in other states with reserved seats where they studied class 12.However, there are also many students who did not find their names in the reservation list and they are the students who studied class 12 in states like Assam and Meghalaya, which do not have reserve MBBS seats.
Those students are in a position of not getting MBBS seats at all, the parents said.
In this regard, some students have already submitted request to National Testing Agency to publish their names in the merit list of their home state and allow them to attend counselling for getting MBBS seats.
They have also submitted similar applications to the state's health directorate so that they could pursue the matter with the national authority, the parents informed.
