Withhold walk-in-interview: Nursing officers

Covid Warrior Nursing Officers' Association has submitted a written complaint to the director of health services to withhold the proposed walk-in-interview for engagement of staff on contract basis for Covid hospitals of Kyamgei and Kakching and LMO Plant, Porompat.
In the written complaint, the Association remind ed that it was formed for welfare of Covid warrior nursing officers engaged by the government on contract basis for fighting COVID-19 .
Members of the Association were engaged through DPC with the approval of the state cabinet and directorate of health services is still utilising the nursing officers in fighting the pandemic for more than 100 days.
As per Central government recommendation, health workers who have been part of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic are to be given priority in regular appointment by states/Union Territories.
All the members of the Association have undergone COVID-19 duty for more than 100 days and accordingly health directorate could induct them as regular staff, the complaint noted pointed out.
A notification of the state health department issued recently informed about recruitment of 50 nurses for Covid Hospital, Kakching and 100 nurses for Covid Hospital, Kyamgei on contract basis and interview for the recruitment has been scheduled for December 9.The Association has no opposition and does not want to disrupt the recruitment but wants the interview to be conducted after members of the Association are given a specific position and service extension.
The written complaint then urged authority concerned to keep in abeyance the interview until arrangement of a specific position for the Covid warrior nursing officers.
