Imphal, November 27 2021:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has picked up at least 48 non-locals from Uripok Tourangbam Leikai for not possessing ILP or any valid passes to stay in Manipur and handed them over to the police.
The non-locals were picked up with assistance from Uripok Tourangbam Leikai Welfare Organization during a drive today.
During the drive over 500 non-locals staying in rental houses in the area were verified at Radha Govinda Mandap.
In the process, at least 48 non-locals including one Nepalese citizen were detained for not possessing any valid pass to stay in Manipur.
Later, the detainees were handed over to the police.
Speaking to media persons today, JCILPS convenor BK Moirangcha urged all landlords to submit copies of identity cards and Aadhaar cards of tenants along with copies of the documents used in obtaining ILP passes for nonlocal people staying in their places within five days.
If the landlords fail to do so, then the JCILPS and local club members will close their rents, he added.
He further stated that JCILPS will carry out its drive in different parts of the State too.
He also appealed to all District Magistrates to provide ILP passes, not just tokens, to the non-locals for their stay in Manipur.
