Senapati, September 02 2026: In yet another assault on a Liangmai Naga village, Pipuram Makui Naga village along the Imphal-Tamei Road in Kangpokpi district came under attack today, with around 25 residential houses, including those belonging to Nepali residents, burnt down by armed Kuki militants.

The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), in a statement, strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate relief and rehabilitation for the affected villagers.

The LNC-M expressed deep anguish and condemned the "brutal, calculated and reprehensible armed assault" on Pipuram Makui village allegedly by around 100 armed Kuki militants equipped with sophisticated weapons and drones.

According to the LNC-M, around 25 houses, including those of Nepali residents, were torched, leaving numerous families homeless, traumatised and in need of immediate humanitarian assistance.

The Council claimed that security forces have not reached the affected village despite repeated distress calls and appeals for protection.

Such prolonged exposure of vulnerable civilians to grave danger, despite repeated pleas for assistance is unacceptable, it added.

The LNC-M demanded the immediate and sustained deployment of security forces at Pipuram Makui and other vulnerable Liang-mai Naga settlements, be- sides urgent protection, eva-cuation, relief and rehabilitation of affected civilians.

It also demanded complete reconstruction of the houses and properties destroyed in the attack and a swift, time-bound investigation into the incident and prosecution of those responsible.

The Council also called upon the State and Central Governments to take immediate and decisive action against the perpetrators and ensure full compensation for the losses suffered by the affected villagers.

"Atrocities against civilians cannot be treated as expendable, overlooked or met with indifference; immediate and resolute intervention is imperative to avert further tragedy," the LNC-M said.
