Imphal, September 02 2026:
5 CSOs have condemned the attacks on Tapon Khunjao, Tapon Khunou and Makui Tiporam in Kangpokpi district yesterday in the strongest terms.
The 5 CSOs, which include All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMU-CO), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR) and Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), said the attacks on the villages were an attempt to derail efforts to restore peace.
Terming the attacks an act of terrorism which threatens peaceful coexistence of communities, the 5 CSOs said the Government of India and the State Government were responsible for it.
Such incidents of violence are a result of the Governments' failure to take timely appropriate measures, said the CSOs.
While combing operations are conducted swiftly in the valley regions to curb and contain violence, similar operations in the hills seem to be lacking the required intensity, the civil bodies said.
For Manipur to return to peace and foster peaceful coexistence, communities must cease seeking vengeance, said the 5 CSOs .
