Ibobi hopeful of justice in office of profit case

CLP leader and former chief minister O Ibobi has expressed confidence of getting justice even though belatedly in the office of profit case against 12 MLAs of the ruling party, who used to hold the post of parliamentary secretary under the Biren government.
Responding to media queries on the sidelines of the 132nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru held at Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, Ibobi said that his party believes that the Governor will uphold the directives of the Supreme Court in relation with the case.
Stating that he is confident that justice will be delivered even if late, Ibobi, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in taking a decision on the case while asserting that delaying justice is akin to denying justice.
Regarding the position of MLAs RK Imo and Yamthong Haokip, Ibobi said that the party is discussing the issue and what steps to be taken up against them.
Since Congress party functions on a set of principles and ideologies, they need to follow a proper process to take decision regarding resignation from the party.
The party leadership will definitely take up appropriate actions against them after consulting the legal cell, he said.
MPCC observed the 132nd birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru by offering floral tributes to the photo of the first Prime Minister of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi called for upholding principles of secularism espoused by Jawaharlal Nehru and remember his contribution in laying the foundation and formation of the present India.
AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, CWC member Gaikhangam, MLA K Meghachandra, MPCC working president I Hemochandra and ex-MLA T Mangibabu along with MPCC leaders were also present during the function.
