Menace of substance abuse discussed

As a part of its continued efforts to save the State from the menace of substance abuse, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) organised a public meeting at Nongmeibung Ayangpalli today.
The meeting has been organised in coordination with Nongmeibung Ayangpalli Maning Mamang Meira Paibi.
Chakpram Ongbi Muktabali, president of Nongmeibung Ayangpalli Women's Development Meira Paibi, Takhellambam Ongbi Purnima, secretary Women Affairs, CADA and Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice president CADA attended the meeting as presidium members, said a press release issued by CADA.
Speaking as the resource persons, Dipanjit Ningthoujam stated that the election which is considered as the biggest festival of democracy has become a platform for substance abuse such as alcohol and illegal drugs and to showcase gun and money power.
In view of such situations, there will be many who will be addicted to drugs and alcohol after election hence every one needs to refrain from falling prey to these harmful habits, he added.
Chakpram Ongbi Muktabali also appealed to all to ensure that there are no unwanted outcomes due to menace of drugs and alcohol in connection with the election, added the press release.
