UCM organises training, awareness programme

United Committee Manipur (UCM) along with Keinou Thongthak Youths' Welfare Association (KTYWA) jointly organised a one-day farmers' training cum Covid-19 awareness programme on the theme 'Rejuvenate Farm Economy and Self Reliance' at Keinou Thongthak Awang Leikai on Monday.
The programme was attended by KVK Bishnupur senior scientist & Head Dr Kh Brajamani Meetei as chief guest, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam as president and social activist Mongjarn Nillakamal Singh and Keinou GP ward member Huidrom Borajao Meetei as guests of honour.
Speaking at the programme, UCM president Joychandra informed that the training programme was conducted to aid the farmers produce sufficient food crops and make Manipur self-reliant.
UCM facilitates similar farmers' training programme in both the hills and the valley to produce and gather foods sufficiently for a year and make a progressive society, he said, adding that foods produced in the hills and the valley are exchanged and thus promotes communal harmony.
The economy of Manipur will improve if people consume foods produced in the state instead of importing, he added.
UCM also distributed 60 bags of urea, AYUSH-64, ARS Alb-30 and winter seeds among the farmers.
