1st Irang Part-2 Gorkha Sports Meet concludes

The closing ceremony of the 1st Irang Part-2 Gorkha Sports Meet organised by All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union Irang Part-2 Unit, fully sponsored by 44th Assam Rifles with its motto "Khelse Mitrata" in commemoration of Swarnim Vijay Varsha, Indo-Pak War 1971, was held on Monday at Irang Part-2 Govt High School Playground, Panikheti.
Altogether 14 teams within the jurisdiction of AMGSU Irang Part-2 Unit took part in the football meet.
CO 44 AR Colonel Praveen Kumar, social worker Simsim Gurung, ex-ADC-SH member Vikash Basnet, 44AR Major Sai Kiran, LB Adhikari, president All Manipur Students' Union, Enok Kipgen, president KSO Twilang Block, graced the event as chief guest, guests of honour, functional president and special guests respectively.
Ngamchambou, chairman Naga Tapon, Ram Bahadur Karki, ex-GB Irang Part-II, Chandra Bahadur Basnet, secretary Irang Part-II Authority Board, Tilachand Paudyel, former president AMGSU Irang Part-II Unit, Saran Kumar Limbu, president AMGSU Irang Part-II Unit chairmen and secretaries of Irang Part-II Authority Board also attended the closing ceremony as special invitees.
Guests were welcomed with Bhangra dance, Gorkha Khukuri dance of 44AR and Nepali cultural dance performed by 44 AR.
The final match was played between Thaldara team and Gorkha Tapon team.
The Gorkha team won the match 3-1 in a penalty shootout.
Sagar Dahal of Gorkha Tapon and B Veely of 44 AR were named highest scorer and best keeper respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest, Col Praveen Kumar encouraged the youths who want to join Army while assuring that pre-recruitment training for those in remote corners of Irang areas will be provided by the 44AR.All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) thanked CO 44AR and all ranks for organising such a very historic event in the area.
Beside the football meet, a six-day free medical camp has also been organised at the same venue by the 44AR.More than 200 patients have been benefited by the free medical camp, said a press release from AMGSU.
