Farmers training / covid-19 awareness programme held

A one day farmer training cum covid-19 awareness programme was conducted today at Keinou Thongthak Awang Leikai organised by United Committee Manipur (UCM) in collaboration with Keinou Thongthak Youths' Welfare Association (KTYWA) under UCM's continuing theme of "Rejuvenate Farm Economy and Self-Reliance" .
The event was graced by Dr Kh Brajamani Meetei (Senior Scientist& Head KVK Bishnupur) as Chief Guest, Joychandra Konthoujam (President, UCM), Mongjam Nillakamal (social activist) as Guest of Honour and Huidrom Borajao Meetei (Ward Member Keinou G/P) as dais member while Bidyaluxmi Devi (BTM), L Rameshwor Singh (EO Agri) and Dr Bisonath Sharma (Dy Director AYUSH) attended as resource persons.
As per a press release issued by UCM, Joychandra Konthoujam stated that the aim of the training programme is to ensure increased food production, thereby securing Manipur's future as a self-reliant producer of food.
He further stressed on the need to have stockpiles of food both in the hills and valley regions and encouraged the adoption of different farming techniques and exchange of produce between hill and valley farmers to foster brotherhood.
60 Urea bags, AYUSH-64, ARS Alb-30 and seeds of winter crops were distributed to farmers as part of the training program.
It also emphasized on the need to support local, indigenous products of the state to send our economy into an upward trajectory, added the press release.
