Mass social service marks Gandhi Jayanti at Senapati

Commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi Jayanti was at Senapati district H/Q along with organising a mass social work initiated by student community today.
The event was organised under the aegis of Budding Dreams, a Non Governmental Organization, in collaboration with the District Administration, All Private School Association Senapati (APSAS), Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Naga People Organization (NPO) and District Police.
The sanitation drive was carried out from Mt.
Everest college junction, Taphou Phyamai to Mt.
Zion Senior Secondary School at Kathikho Karong along the NH-2.All the Private schools were assigned specific stretch of locations to take charge of area to clean up the waste and garbage.
All the schools turned up to their specified locations and performed outstandingly in a competitive mood almost doing the part of PWD National highway repairing works.
The organisers received a massive response from all the schools by deputing more than 50 students each.
The business centres were all closed down to walk out for the social work as well.
The organisers also employed JCB tractors, dipper and local plying pickup trucks to dispose off the garbage at the allocated dumping zone.
The social work for the first time was carried out in well organised manner.
The All Manipur Gorkha Youth and Students of Senapati Unit with massive 62 young members despite of being left without invitation voluntarily joined the social work because of the sole interest for the cleanliness of the DHQ which was well appreciated by all.
The organisers have set apart prizes for five best performing school to be awarded by the District Administration.
