PDS rice at Moreh

A team of Moreh police commandos recovered 20 bags of PDS rice from the border at Ward No 4 from four Myanmar nationals including two women who were trying to load the same onto a Tongbay (a four wheeler carrier) today around 12.20pm.The recovery comes in the mid of the controversy regarding shortage of PDS rice meant for people of Moreh and some couples of days after the recent drive of mobile sale of PDS rice launched by the CAF&PD Minister at Moreh.
According to a statement issued by the SDPO of Moreh, on seeing the commando team, the Myanmar nationals who tried to load the rice fled leaving the rice bags and crossed into the Myanmar territory through the porous forest area along the border.
The seized rice has been handed over to the OC of Moreh PS for initiating necessary legal action, the statement said.
The police statement further appealed to all communities of Moreh to extend full cooperation in this regard so that illegal sale of PDS rice meant for the people of Moreh across the border is prevented successfully in future.
