Senapati, October 02 2013:
As announced earlier by the Village Authorities of TNK, Senapati on September 24 last, aggrieved land owners locked up the office of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Senapati from today in pursuance of their demand for settlement of the land issue which has remained dragged on for almost 15 years now.
The development has come about as the September 30 deadline served to the state Government through the Director SCERT expired with no positive response from the side of the Government.
According to Chairman of the Land Donors' body, which is spearheading the demand, the institute was locked up as the MoU signed between the State Government represented by the Director of SCERT and the affected land owners in 1998-2010 has not been honoured.
It was agreed upon that 6 posts of Grade IV employees would be appointed from among the land owners in return for the land donation for setting up the institute.
However, only two posts have been appointed.
In 2011, the Institute was reopened after fresh agreement to appoint 3 LDC posts.
But even after the file process was forwarded and received by the Cabinet Section on 31st August, 2012, with serial No.654 and holding a series of meetings with the Education Minister, Commissioner and Additional Secretary of SCERT, the agreement has not been implemented, the aggrieved land owners lamented.
