Imphal, October 02 2013:
Condemning the insult and subsequent expulsion of Henkholun, Warden cum-Asst Teacher of Imphal Public Hr Sec School, Canchipur and his wife Pichong (Helper) without any notice and valid reason by the school principal, the Thadou Students' Association (TSA) has demanded appropriate punishment for the principal and adequate compensation for the expelled couple.
According to a press note of TSA, the couple joined the school on September 10 and were asked to leave on September 28, after 17 days of the joining on the charge that he (the warden) did not beat or punish the student and was unable to control the student.
"Henkholun was insulted before the students by the Principal inside the class room of Class VI, while he was taking class.
His text book was snatched and thrown away by the Principal and was told to leave the hostel.
Earlier, his wife Pichong was also harassed and beaten on head by the Principal using a stick", the note read.
It stated, Henkholun's fault was that he was soft on the students and did not beat them up.
Many employees of the school have abandoned it earlier due to the Principal's cruelty including fleeing of two school bus drivers.
The school advocates the corporal punishment which controvert the existing regulation/rule prescribed by the Supreme Court.
