Rallies taken out against drug menace

Imphal, March 08 2013:
Large number of women from Lamsang and its surrounding villages today carried out a mass rally demanding strict law to curb drug menace in the state, punish drug traffickers, re-establish SIU and appoint Inspector Ranjit as OC of SIU.
The mass rally organised by different organisations of Lamsang area started from Heibongpokpi Community Hall.
The rallyists also burnt effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Home Minister Gaikhangam and DGP Y Joykumar.
Later, a public meeting was held at Heibongpokpi Community Hall where many of the speakers demanded to produce the owner of the drugs seized from Imphal Airport and Mantripukhri.
Similar, a protest rally was also organized jointly by AMADA,Kangleipak Women Welfare Association and women vendors of Thoubal Bazar from Thoubal Bazar to Athokpam today.
