DB College, Maram celebrates International Women's Day

Don Bosco College Maram joined the International community in celebrating the International Women's Day under the theme of "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum" along with a peace mark today.
The Women's Cell of Don Bosco College, Maram took the initiative of organizing the day in a different manner from the other years.
The entire programme of the day was done in collaboration with the 5 Assam Rifles, Maram.
The Peace March which started at 1.30 pm from the college was flagged off by Rev.Fr.KO Sebastian, the Rector.
In his short speech, Fr Sebastian exhorted women to stand up for their rights and said that women should be respected and valued.
The staff and students of the college; staff, ladies and students from 5 Assam Rifles, Maram Bazaar and local leaders and representatives of Maram Khullen Circle Women Association (MKCWA) participated in the peace march carrying placards with slogans like "stop discriminating women", "honour women, let peace prevail", "respect women and love them", "women for progress", etc.
The Peace March came to a halt at the Sumo taxi stand of Maram Bazar where a short valedictory function was organized to highlight the role of women.
In her welcome speech, Ms.Cecilia reiterated the noble role of women in society.
Dr.TNK Ching Mao, Senior Medical Officer, 5 Assam Rifles, who was the guest honour, emphasized the different roles played by women in society and remarked that endurance and patience of mothers can never be written off.
The Chief Guest of the function, Mrs.Vidhya Annappa, the wife of Major Annappa appreciated the women for their unique contribution in society.
