Pallel drug seizure case Judicial remand till Mar 22

With the re-arrest of the seven accused in the Pallel drug haul case, a Judge of NDPS Special Court, Manipur has today remanded the accused to police custody till March 12 and Judicial custody till March 22 .
The seven accused were produced before the Judge of a Special Court, NDPS, Manipur today.
Before the rearrest of the accused, the Judge of NDPS Special Court, Manipur also remanded the accused to 15 days Judicial Custody.
A Special Public Prosecutor today petitioned the Court to remand the seven accused to judicial custody.
No counsel pleaded for the accused.
Hearing the petition, the Judge remanded the accused to Judicial Custody till March 22 .

Besides, the Court also allowed the Special Public Prosecutor to re-arrest the accused and remand them in police custody till March 12 for further investigation.
It may be mentioned that six persons were arrested in a drug haul case at Pallel on February 24 morning.
Six persons arrested at Pallel included Col Ajay Chowdhry, PRO of Defence Wing; Assistant Manager of Indigo Airline, Ngairangbam Brojendro; Haopu Haokip of Langol Games Village Zone-II; Minthang Doungel of New Checkon; Minlal Haokip of New Checkon and a TA personnel RK Babloo.
Drugs worth over Rs 24 crore were recovered from them.
Following their arrest, Seikholen Haokip was arrested from his Deulalane residence the next day.
Four carton boxes of illegal drugs were recovered from him.
The seven were remanded to police custody till Friday.
Three FIRs were registered against them under Section 21 and 29 of NDPS Act at Kakching PS.
DGP Joykumar had said that the case would be investigated with NCB.
Meanwhile, womenfolk in groups raised slogans demanding fitting punishment against the accused today while the accused were escorted to the Court.
