Dimapur, March 08 2013:
Not withstanding the dismal performance of the Congress in the recent election to the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly, former Chief Minister and strongman of the party in Nagaland, SC Jamir is set to become the Governor of Odisha.
He will replace incumbent Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, whose tenure expired a few months ago.
According to sources, Dr SC Jamir who became the Governor of Goa in 2004 and then that of Maharashtra, was informed about the development by Union Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde two days ago.
Born on October 17,1931 to late Senayangba Jamir of Ungma village and Takatula of Mokokchung district, Dr SC Jamir is the five-times chief minister of Nagaland (though he could not complete most of the terms fully) since 1980 .

In the early part of 2003, when his former 'blue-eye boy' Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland People's Front (NPF) detroned him, Dr SC Jamir chose to remain a low profile for a year then.
But in 2004 he was appointed as the Governor of Goa.
Meanwhile, it is not clear when Dr SC Jamir will join the office.
