NH-2 renovation work inspected

Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, RD & PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa and MLA Thongam Bishwajit today inspected the renovation works along NH-2 from Taphou to Maram.
Leaders of Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Maram Students' Union and Senapati District Students' Union and Additional Chief Engineer of PWD, Temba also accompanied the Ministerial team during the inspection.
During the inspection, the Ministerial came across that renovation work along the road over a stretch of just 3 km had been completed, although work on another stretch of 5 km is likely to be finished by the end of the current month.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the inspection, Works Minister Dr Ratankumar informed that the work order for renovation of the road stretch from Taphou to Maram was issued on April 3, 2010.However, execution of the work remained stalled till March 13 last year due to some issues.
The State Government sanctioned Rs 7 crore for maintenance of the road stretch last year and HN Company based at Dimapur began the renovation work since January 24 this year, the Minister added.
He also instructed the contractors to speed up their work and told them to be sincere if they were not able to complete the work in time.
Welcoming the cooperation of the CSOs, the Minister also appealed to the CSOs and local people to cooperate with the renovation work and at the same time check the quality of the work being executed.
