Missive sent to CBI to probe drug hauls

The Government of Manipur has officially intimated the Union Home Ministry for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the drug haul cases of Tulihal Airport and Pallel.
According to a State Home Department source, about three days back the Union Home Ministry was approached to let the CBI investigate the recovery of Rs 1.4 crore worth of psychotropic drugs from Tulihal Airport by the SIU as well as Thoubal district police commandos seizing illegal drugs estimated to be worth about Rs 25 crore at Pallel.
While the Airport seizure was made on january 11 the drug bust at Pallel check-post took place on February 24 with the latter case also leading to the detention of the Army PRO and four others.
