Critical Care & Trauma Centre launched at Ukhrul

The Comprehensive Health Services and Research Centre (CHRSC), Ukhrul launched a Critical Care & Trauma centre today.
Rita Leiyaphy SDO, Ukhrul cut the ribbon during the launching programme.
Addressing the gatherings, Director of the Centre, Dr Nelson said the need of the hour in the town is medical advancement.
He said that his conviction for setting up the Critical Care & Trauma centre has been realised.
The centre will be a transit point for patient undergoing major medical treatment.
The facility will stabilize the patients confidence before any major operation and provide medical service to patients in critical condition.
He said that he conceived the idea after an accident that involved the son of former district administrator who got hurt in his temple needing immediate medical attention.
Through the incident, the Centre evolved to exist and saw the light of the day.
The Centre has been set up at the cost of Rs 40 lakh with Rs 24.75 lakh assistance from the district innovation project.
Dr Nelson also conveyed gratitude to Apex Builder and Medtech for extending maximum co-operation and availing machines to the centre.
Dr Chingkap and Dr Sharon (Cornea and Retinal surgeons) from Dimapur Mercy Eye Centre had extended their willingness to render free service in organising two days eye camp at the CHRSC, Ukhrul.
Presently, the CHRSC is staffed with 37 dedicated para medics and two doctors round the season.
24 hours ambulance service within the district has been arranged besides extension of critical and trauma facility.
