Three accused in killing of student nabbed

Imphal, August 08, 2014:
Police have apprehended three persons involved in the killing of Phairenbam Nabachandra (18), a Class XII student studying in Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School who died after he was hit by steel rod by some laborers at Moirang Chingei Ground under Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur district on August 4 evening.
The arrested persons have been identified as Hijam Achouba (32) s/o H Naba of Sugnu Khabok Ward no 1; Ningthoujam Suresh (21) s/o N Naba of Sugnu Khabok Ward no 1 and Ningthoujam Telheiba (19) s/o N Nukul of Sugnu Tangjeng Khunjao Mayai Leikai.
Police also recovered the steel rod used in killing the student.
It may be recalled here that Nabachandra who stayed in a rented house was called out by a mohari engaged in construction of a water reservoir at Moirang Chingei for having dinner together on August 4 evening.
On reaching the site, an altercation broke out between the mohari and laborers emerged.
Nabachandra tried to stop the fight but he was hit on his head by the laborers using a steel road.
He was rushed to Shija Hospital for treatment but succumbed to the injuries.
