Imphal, August 08, 2014:
The Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) has demanded the VC of Manipur University HNK Sharma to take moral responsibility and resign on moral ground immediately for whatever happened in MU campus in the recent past.
The union resolved to press the demand during a general body meeting held in the University Senate Hall with MUTA president Prof M Ranjit Singh in the chair.
The meeting delibereated on the prevailing situation of MU campus and other problems.
MUTA members unanimously resolved to strongly condemn the 'brutal' action of the University administration as a response to the democratic agitation of the University students against the arbitrary 'Quit Hostel' notice as the members felt that such action could have been avoided.
The teachers also resolved to appeal the MU authority to help the students, who are taking shelter under open sky.
They also decided to appeal to the University administration to immediately press the University administration to restore normalcy in the campus and assure resumption of all the normal academic activities immediately.
After deliberating the present situation at length, the teachers resolved to demand VC's resignation observing that the present unrest is due to his administrative failure.
