Imphal, August 08, 2014:
Vehemently decrying indefinite closure of hostels and suspension of all theory and practical classes of Manipur University, MUSU-RDC has demanded resignation of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the varsity on moral ground.
Speaking to reporters, Manipur University Students Union Revival Demand Committee (MUSURDC) convenor Thokchom Suresh said that it was unfortunate to let police launch action against the students who were protesting sudden closure of hostels and suspension of classes.
Alleging that the VC has brought unrest to otherwise peaceful University campus, Suresh said that helpless hostellers including many girl students had to take shelter at nearby open community hall.
Maintaining that the VC is not competent to be the head of the highest learning institution of the State, Suresh alleged that he has changed Manipur University to an establishment for earning money for contractors and himself.
Flaying Registrar for issuing the notification on the directive of VC without giving any second thought, Suresh also demanded his resignation saying that the notification has breached the rights of the students.
Rejecting the report of accommodation arrangement at Guest House, Suresh said that the MU authority has never made such arrangement for the displaced students.
He also flayed a police team, who came at the community hall without women police personnel, for threatening girl students who took shelter at the community hall.
