Longest Bailey bridge in State inaugurated

The Congress government led by O Ibobi in the State has been bringing in equal development in both the hills and valley districts of the State.
Such type of government which works tirelessly for the betterment of hills and valley people on equal basis has been not formed in the political history of the State, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has stated.
He was speaking while inaugurating a newly constructed bailey bridge over Leimatak River at Taosang Khunou in Nungba Assembly Constituency of Tamenglong district today.
Gaikhangam further said that the Congress government has always kept its words whether it is for the construction of road, bridge etc for welfare of the public and mentioned that some vested individuals have been trying to tarnish the image of the Congress government despite its impeccable track record.
Maintaining that mini secretariats and inclusive infrastructure have been already provided in the hill districts for smooth administration along with providing better connectivity, the Dy CM informed that the government is also planning to set up medical colleges and IIITs in all the districts.

More development will come in the State when barrier and typical mindset amongst the people of hills and valley are eliminated, he added.
Saying that a new face of Tamenglong district will be seen after few years as the government is planning to take up many developmental works in the district, he appealed to residents of the district to show warm hospitality to people coming in the district.
Gaikhangam went on to say that people should possess the quality of self-reliance and work culture to sustain growth and development in the State.
He also informed that the Rs 867.77 crores Loktak Downstream Hydro-Electric Project will produce around 66 MW of power at Leimatal soon.
Works Minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar, who was also present during the inauguration function as president, explained that the construction of Leimatak Bridge, which is a bailey bridge by the PWD was started from December 31, 2013.The Leimatak Bridge which measures 200 feet (TDR) with 30r load classification is the longest Bailey bridge in the State.
The Minister further informed that the proposed Loktak Downstream Hydro-Electric Project is going to be a joint venture of NHPC and State Government.
Chief Engineer of PWD M Lokendro, Additional Chief Engineer Ch Tiken and other officials of the Department were also present during the inaugural function of the longest bailey bridge in the State.
