Imphal, August 08, 2014:
There is no let up in their woes for 50 Manipur University hostellers, who have been taking shelter at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak since the closure of hostels.
With Youth Hostel authority also asking the students to vacate the hostel to accomodate fresh visitors, they do not have no other option now rather than urging the Manipur University authority to revoke the decision of hostel closure.
Speaking to reporters, Manipur University Tribal Students Union (MUTSU) spokesperson Luckyson Panmei said that 50 students have been putting up at Youth Hostel ever since MU authority issued notification to leave the hostels on August 6. The total bill for accomodation and fooding charges for these 50 students is Rs 44,390, he said.
Saying that it is inconvenient for the students from interior areas to return to their respective villages as the MU authority might announce opening of hostels any time, Luckyson Panmei cautioned that the students would launch agitation with the support from other organisations if MU hostels are not opened at the earliest.
