Imphal, May 12 2013:
UCM today extended a helping hand to the children and siblings of Angom (O) Chanbi and her daughter Maneka of Phayeng Ching Khunou who were raped and murdered by unidentified persons.
A team of UCM volunteers today went to Chanbi's parents-in-law's home and donated certain material of assistance to Chanbi's three surviving children.
UCM provided one bag of rice, onions, one tin of cooking oil, one bag of potato, dal, common salt and other edible items to two daughters and one son of Chanbi.
In addition to school uniforms, the UCM team gave school text books of class X (for the eldest daughter), class VII (for the son) and class VI (for the youngest daughter) .
Condemning the brutal rape and murder of Chanbi and Maneka, UCM president Y Nabachandra flayed the Police Department for its failure to nab all those criminals involved in the brutal rape and murder of the mother-daughter duo even though it has been more than three years since the ghastly murder took place.

Demanding police should pull up all the accused at the earliest for a thorough investigation, Nabachandra said that there should be no delay in filing a charge-sheet so that justice is delivered to the departed souls, the surviving unidentified persons in the intervening night of January 12 and 13, 2010 on the pretext of talking with her son who had joined a UG group.
The mother and daughter were found murdered under a heap of hay at Shampha paddy field on January 23 same year.
Shampha paddy field is just about 800 metres to the East of Chanbi's home.
Chanbi's parents-in-law Angom Amuthoi (74) and Manitombi (60) said that they were gratified and grateful to UCM for the assistance given to their grand-children.
Manitombi sought further assistance from all philanthropic organisations towards education of the three young children.
The UCM team also included its vice-president Chandramani Khumancha, secretary general Joychandra Konthoujam, secretary organisation YK Dhiren, secretary finance Boby Luwang, HRD secretary Leishemba Lamabam and Thokchom Premkanta.
They assured more assistance to the three children.
