CCpur cycles with warcry against drugs

CCpur, June 03 2022:
Over a hundred people took out a cycle rally with a pledge to enhance the War on Drugs campaign and end poppy cultivation.
The cycle rally was organised by district administration, police, Forest Division and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in Churachandpur district as part of World Bicycle Day.
The rally was flagged off from Churachandpur Public Ground by SP Shivanand Surve and it covered about eight 8 Kms towards the northern direction of Tiddim Road and made their first destination at Saihenjang Playground.
There, the cyclists took part in a tree plantation programme in the presence of the SP and other ranks and files of Churachandpur police before culminating at Peace Ground, Tuibong.

Speaking by the sideline of the rally, Dy Director, NYK Churachandpur H Doungel said that the objective of the rally was to spread awareness and sensitise the public on the impacts of poppy cultivation and harmful effects of drugs.
The Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association also observed the day in association with Cycling Mayor, Imphal City and Doctors on Pedals and IMA, Manipur State Branch by taking out a cyclothon on the theme "Cycling - A simple, affordable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation" .
The cyclothon was flagged off by Heirok AC MLA Thokchom Radheshyam from the western gate of Kangla and it culminated at Tera Ideal Club.
The function held at Tera was graced by MLAs Sapam Kunjakeswor, Th Radheshyam and actor Soma Laishram.
