Road mishap claims woman, injuries two

Imphal/Kangpokpi, May 27 2014:
In a fatal road accident at around 4.30 am today near Yaikongpao village, under Kangpokpi police station along the National Highway a woman died on the spot while two other persons sustained injury.
Even though identity of the deceased woman could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report driver of the ill-fated vehicle who sustained a minor injury on his forehead has been identified as Md Najir (26) s/o Md Abdul Latif of Sora Karanchi, under Kakching PS in Thoubal district.
The other person who also suffered injury in the mishap is said to be the driver's assistant (handyman) namely Md Ajij (22) s/o Md Khamba of Sora Karanchi.
Ajij has been admitted to CHC, Kangpokpi.
Police report suggest that woman boarded a 10-wheeler truck, carrying iron scraps and heading towards Dimapur at NRL Oil Pump, Matripukhri, early this morning.

the trio reportedly had their meal at Sekmai and were proceeding on the journey when the heavy vehicle plunged into a river-bank, apparently due to technical failure.
The driver of the vehicle told the police about the woman identifying herself while boarding the truck as Apikpa from Kwakta Thingjel Leikai.
Police have detained him for questioning.
The deceased is whitish in complexion, about 4.10 feet in height with long black hair and wore white shirt, orange colour phanek with purple and red striped Chunni, according to a police source adding that the victim woman has bangles on both hands, a ring in the middle finger on the left hand and nose ring, a common feature among Muslim women.
The deceased woman, whose dead body has been deposited at JNIMS Morgue for post mortem, bears signs of injury marks on the neck, left leg and right knee.
On the other hand, a 28 year old man was found dead near Senapati district hospital and he has been identified as Dhariinou Poumai s/o Souzo of Phubaa Thapham.
Injury mark made by a heavy object was seen on his head.
The body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS.
In connection with the mysterious death, a case has been registered at Senapati P/S .
